After knitting my “water’s edge” design, I wanted to design a pattern to represent the smaller waves and ripples of many different sizes along the beach.
Using the Arts & Crafts movement for inspiration, I chose a variegated yarn with a slight shine to resemble the shimmering surface of the water. I combined two designs: a broader and slightly scalloped edge which turns narrower towards the centre where two parallel cables lean towards each other, and one line of cables trailing along both edges. The colours are beautifully deep blues and greys, and the items are beautifully weighted and mould themselves snugly around any shape.
