This design took it’s inspiration from the many earthy colours between the sea and the mountains here in Connemara with it’s “40 shades of green”, rich purples, and flecks of gold.
The scarf has a real luxurious feel to it – the Brioche stitches have ultimate texture with a beautiful “squishy” softness, and hold their shape extremely well because of the depth of the stitch. When the fabric is being pulled or folded, the colours blend beautifully and the many combinations create a huge colour palette. Remember that Brioche is reversible, so you can wear your scarf or cowl on both sides, and the edges don’t roll!
This pattern is syncopated, which means that one pattern block shows colour 1 as the pattern colour with colour 2 in the background, while the identical pattern block beside it brings colour 2 to the front and pushes colour 1 to the back. If you prefer one main colour for the front and one for the back throughout, simply repeat the first pattern block over and over; pattern blocks are indicated by yellow lines in the charts. The scarf features 3 parallel rows of heathers in alternating colours, knitted in 2-colour brioche. Pattern instructions are in both English and German.
